"With four kids of her own and over a decade of experience networking with other mothers online, Jill Krause has the experience and the humor to help you prepare for what real life is like with a baby. Centering truths that seasoned mothers often forget or just don’t want to discuss at all, this is the pregnancy book I wish I’d had 14 years ago before I gave birth to what felt like an alien." —Heather B. Armstrong, creator of dooce®“Jill is like the best friend who fills you in on all the pregnancy stuff without terrifying you. A perfect read for first-time moms who don’t know where to start, Jill's book is the checklist every woman needs for her pregnancy journey.”—Amy Morrison, founder of Pregnant Chicken"Jill has knocked it out of the park with this one, creating an invaluable resource for moms-to-be (and dads, too!). This book covers everything from choosing the appropriate medical provider to obscure food cravings to finding underwear that truly fits! The perfect blend of advice from experts, tips from fellow moms, and Jill's own firsthand pregnancy knowledge is what makes this something no expecting mom can go 40 weeks without." —Adrian Kulp, author of We're Pregnant!: The First-Time Dad's Pregnancy Handbook and Dad or Alive: Confessions of an Unexpected Stay-at-Home Dad"There is no better person than Jill Krause to lead a first-time mom-to-be through her pregnancy. She does it with honesty, rawness, a sense of humor, and―most importantly―a helluva lot of useful information." —Ilana Wiles (aka @mommyshorts), author of The Mommy Shorts Guide to Remarkably Average Parenting"First-time moms-to-be are rightfully scared of the unknown: pregnancy, labor, delivery, breastfeeding, parenting, and so on. I often find myself talking patients off the ledge, so to speak, about something they read online or on a medical pregnancy app. This book makes my job easier… It’s a guidebook to pregnancy that acts as a link between your healthcare provider, your family and friends’ unsolicited advice, and all the crazy stuff you will read online. It’s a useful tool that makes you laugh." —from the Foreword by Sara A. Robert, MD, Obstetrician and Gynecologist"This would be the perfect gift for the first-time expectant mom who wants answers outside of the routine doctor's visit." —Claire Kerr-Zlobin, Founder & Executive Director of Healthy Start, Healthy Future JILL KRAUSE is the founder of Baby Rabies, an award-winning blog about pregnancy and parenthood. In the summer of 2007, Jill diagnosed herself with baby rabies―an obsession with getting pregnant, not an actual disease, y’all―and the website was born soon after (followed, appropriately, by her first child). The blog has since been recognized by a variety of media, including TIME, Vogue, Buzzfeed, and The Bump, and was awarded the 2016 Iris Award for Blog of the Year. Jill’s posts and videos have been published online by outlets such as Daily Mail, Us Weekly, Huffington Post, Today, and more. Jill earned her undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of Missouri, where she met her husband Scott. Together, they have four children: Kendall, Leyna, Lowell, and Wallace. In 2017, they sold their Dallas-area home and bought an RV. They are touring the country with their children the rest of 2018 and sharing that adventure on Happy Loud Life. Foreword writer, DR. SARA ROBERT, is a board certified OB/GYN at Craig Ranch OB/GYN in McKinney, Texas. Dr. Robert specializes in both high and low-risk pregnancies and offers other services including well woman exams, treatment for pelvic pain, menopause support and gynecological surgery.

The Kind of Empowering Pregnancy Book Every Woman Needs! This is absolutely the perfect gift for a newly pregnant friend or family member! I remember being terrified by the clinical feeling of all the things that could go wrong thanks to books like "What to Expect When Expecting" - but this book keeps it easy going and helps to ease that constant feeling of worry! It's fun (seriously, everyone should know about the padscicle before they are frantically googling for relief!) but also bursting with real down to earth information from multiple resources! It will empower you to handle those comments from strangers and unsolicited advice as well as figuring out what your goals are for your pregnancy, delivery, and marriage during this chapter of your life. Jill Krause did an outstanding job on this adorable book - it's a must have to treat yourself or your pregnant loved one with!Meh This book provided some generic information that was good to know but it was all very top level. It would raise an issue as something to look into but then tell you nothing further. If you really want answers, facts, statistics, etc., do NOT go with this book.Love this book Love this book! I'm 4 months pregnant and am half way through the book. Lots of great information, suggestions and advice as well as some humor to keep it interesting! Highly reccomend!
